President of the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation, Abdullahi Saidu-Baba, says the country’s taekwondo team is ready to assert its dominance at the African Games in Ghana.
Saidu-Baba exuded confidence in the team’s preparedness, emphasising their focus on strengths and minimising risks to maximise medal prospects.
“The medal prospects of our athletes at the Games are very bright. Despite the non-Africans’ dominance of the sport, we are concentrating on our areas of strength in both Poomsae and Kurigi,” Saidu-Baba said.

The NTF boss then outlined the meticulous preparations underway, highlighting the absence of injury concerns as a testament to the team’s physical readiness.
“We don’t have any injury worries, as all the athletes are on top of their game, working hard to pick a ticket to represent Nigeria at the Games,” he said.
“Under the supervision of our coaches, sports doctors, and physiotherapist, working hard and observing the athletes day by day and ensuring that risks are being minimised to the barest level.”

Paris Olympics-bound Elizabeth Anyanacho, who won a bronze medal at the 2019 African Games is expected to make the list alongside Korea Ambassador Cup champion Benjamin Okuomose.
With a clear strategy in place and a motivated team of athletes, the NTF aims to surpass previous performances and clinch an impressive haul of gold medals at the African Games.
As the nation rallies behind its taekwondo representatives, anticipation mounts for a display of skill, determination and national pride on the continental stage.
