AHEAD OF JUNE 2020 EXPIRATION DATE: Super Eagles job to be ADVERTISED

There are strong indications that the Nigerian government will advertise the position of the job of Super Eagles on both the local and international platforms in a bid to get the best tactician for the position if the renewal talks
with the incumbent, Gernot Rohr ends in a deadlock.

Sportinglife gathered exclusively from those who should know that the exercise to produce Rohr’s replacement if discussions with his employers, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) falls through, will be supervised by one of the
renowned international firms Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC) to ensure transparency.

Not much was divulged to Sportinglife when the exercise will commence as the source was being careful not to jeopardise ongoing discussions between the tactician and his employers.

Except for the fact that other national teams’ coaches will also follow the same process with word rife that the Super Eagles manager will include coaching of the country’s Olympic Games side to
his portfolio.

Asked if Rohr could reapply for the job if it is advertised, Sportinglife source said: ” Yes, if he wants to because it will be done under a new setting where all the problems with the former contract will be fully addressed.”

“I cannot talk about my future now, let’s concentrate on the Brazil game and not me,” Rohr told BBC Sport.

The German, who took over the Super Eagles job in 2016, has a contract running until June 2022. Nigeria will kick off its 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign at home against Benin in November.
