As Rohr Overlooks Mikel Obi

Indication has emerged that Ahmed Musa might be saddled with the lead role in the Super Eagles squad for the October 13 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Libya.

The 25 year old, Musa captained the Super Eagles in the last 2019 Africa Cup Of Nations qualifier against Seychelles played on September 8, in Victoria- in the absence of team captain Mikel Obi for the match.

Recalled that Musa was anointed to captain the national team in the September match despite the team’s vice-captain, Ogenyi Onazi returning to the starting line-up.

On Monday afternoon Rohr named the Al Nassr of Saudi Arabia attacker among 23 other invited players for the next two AFCON 2019 qualifiers against the Mediterranean Knights with the first leg to be played at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium and the return match at the 18,000-capacity Stade Taïeb Mhiri in Sfax, Tunisia on Tuesday, October 16.

The Eagles list released on Monday also indicated that Arsenal of England forward, Alex Iwobi will return alongside the Italy-based duo of William Troost-Ekong and Ola Aina; after all three missed the 3-0 win over Seychelles in Mahe last month due to injury.
