West Brom’s Semi Ajayi set for Royal visit November 28

The Baggies are top of the Championship with 50 points from 23 games, three points ahead of their nearest rivals Leeds United and are the top scorers in the League with 46 goals, nine more goals than any other team in the division.

Ajayi has been completely dominant at the heart of the Baggies’ defence this season, having not missed a minute in 23 games since his £1.5m from Rotherham in the Summer.

Born in London, the former Arsenal academy prospect opted to play for Nigeria and has slotted into the Super Eagle’s defence seamlessly, capped 11 times since 2018 when he was  given his senior Super Eagles debut in September 2018 – coming on in the second half of a 3-0 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying win against Seychelles..

Meanwhile, West Brom manager Slaven Bilić believes there’s no point denying he’s happy with the team at the season’s halfway point, adding it was a privilege to be top of the table at Christmas

“It’s been good, it’s been really good, to be fair,” he admitted. “Good results, good football; there’s been a good atmosphere, and we’ve made good progress.

“But there’s still a long way to go and we have to continue to work hard. I can’t hide it, I’m happy with the way we’re playing in the majority of the games, of course.

“We are taking more control of games without losing that spark. At the moment we have a good squad and we are in a good position, we have good players, and we have players who are in good form, not just one.
