Akintola, Eze, Balotelli fail to save Adama Demirspor

 

Nigerian forward David Akintola, compatriot Okwuchukwu Ezeh and Italy international Mario Balotteli were in action for Turkish side Adama Demirspor but failed to save the side from opening the season on a losing note Sunday night.

Adama Demirspor lost by a lone goal to Turkish league giants Fernabahce thanks to 46th minute strike by Mesut Ozil.

The former Arsenal star who recently ruled out return to international duty for Germany,was in action for 81 minutes and his goal turned out to be the only goal of the match.

Recall that Özil signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with Fenerbahçe worth £4.5 million in January this year from Arsenal.

Akintola who had hoped to make a victorious debut for the side, was in action for 76 minutes before giving way to Gambian Pa Amat Dibba. Ezeh on his part was in action for 28 minutes after stepping in as substitute to for for Morocco’s Younès Belhanda  in the 62nd minute.’

Balotelli saw 62 minutes action in the encounter that saw Nigeria born British player Bright  Osayi-Samuel who plys his trade with Fernabahce bagging a yellow card with nine minutes to the end of the game.

Akintola and his teammates will have to wait till Friday when they visit Kayserispor to see if they can earn the first point of new season.
