Arsenal 2-1 Blackpool: Iwobi plays for 17 minutes

Super Eagles midfielder gem, Alex Iwobi helped Arsenal to a hard fought 2-1 victory against Blackpool in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup played on Wednesday night.

The 22-year-old started from the bench as Unai Emery planned to give him a rest ahead of the all important clash against Liverpool at the weekend.

But he was forced to play the Nigerian as the Gunners needed to keep the ball after going down to 10 men.

Matteo Guendouzi saw red for two bookable offense in the second half with Arsenal 2-0 up courtesy of Stephan Lichtsteiner and Emile Smith-Rowe.

However, the League One side got a goal back through Paudie O’Connor to make it 2-1.

Iwobi entered the game in the 73 rd minute for goalscorer Smith-Rowe as he helped the Gunners controlled the tempo of the game.

It was soon 10 men each as Paudie O’Connor was shown a straight red for Blackpool and Arsenal held on for a 2-1 win.
