Arsenal fans slam Granit Xhaka over awful pass cannons

Granit Xhaka gifted Burnley an equaliser with an awful error at Turf Moor in Saturday’s premier league tie.

Arsenal were leading 1-0 through a Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang goal but it was 1-1 at half time courtesy of Xhaka’s howler.

The Swiss midfielder received the ball from Bernd Leno under pressure in his own box, and the 28-year-old smacked an attempted pass straight at Clarets striker Chris Wood.

The ball hit the New Zealand international on his hip and bounced into the Arsenal goal.

The 20-year-old has become a regular for Arsenal this season, but can he be part of Gareth Southgate’s plans?

The game ended in a 1-1 daw and football fans took to Twitter to comment on Burnley’s bizarre equaliser, with supporters in shock at the manner in which Arsenal had surrendered their lead.

The Gunners midfielder doesn’t have the best record against Burnley, he’s previously been sent off twice against the Clarets.

Piers Morgan tweeted: ‘FFS. What a stupid goal to concede. Dumb by Leno, dumber by Xhaka.’

Another fan tweeted: ‘ Xhaka could be sensational some days but his grotesque mistakes are inevitable.’

Pundit Joe Cole said: ‘For me, it’s another technical individual error from Xhaka. He’s made countless amounts of them. He’s made more errors for goals than any other player in the Premier League since he signed for Arsenal.
