Arsenal are willing to take a major hit on the sale of Lucas Torreira.

ESPN says Arsenal are prepared to let Torreira leave the club this summer but will demand a £15million fee for the midfielder.

The 25-year-old – signed in 2018 in a £26m deal from Sampdoria – has struggled to settle in north London and has spent the current campaign out on loan at Atletico Madrid.

However, the Uruguay international has seen just 629 minutes of action under Diego Simeone this season, and most recently delivered an emotional plea to Arsenal to let him play for Boca Juniors and be closer to his family following his mother’s passing.

The Gunners are sympathetic towards Torreira’s wishes to leave in the summer, and while there is an acceptance they will have to take a loss on the fee paid to Sampdoria three years ago, they will still seek a fee around £15m.
