Arsenal,Liverpool fights for Pedro Neto

Arsenal and Liverpool will have to pay around £80m to sign Pedro Neto from Wolves this summer, according to reports.

Both sides are interested in a deal for the 23-year-old Portugal international who is also attracting interest from Manchester City and Newcastle United.

Neto has been in fine form for Gary O’Neil’s side this season, producing nine assists and two goals across 16 Premier League games.

It was thought that a figure in excess of £53m would be enough to land the winger but Wolves are now reportedly hoping to secure around £80m for him.

Neto, who has been on Arsenal’s radar for several years, is under contract at Molineux until 2027 but Wolves may be forced into a sale due to financial rules.

O’Neil is keen to keep his player for as long as possible and lauded Neto after Wolves’ 2-1 win at Tottenham on Saturday.

‘I think his strengths are incredibly strong,’ O’Neil said. ‘Obviously his athleticism and his pace are excellent, his quality on the ball – when he’s dribbling or when he’s trying to find a pass at the end of it – is excellent.

‘I’ve been asked a few times this week about the summer already and I’m not interested in discussing Pedro Neto leaving the football club.

‘He’s a fantastic player that we spent a lot of money on, that we work very hard on, and as far as I’m concerned we don’t want to lose our best players.

‘So we have a long way to go yet this season and then hopefully he stays with us and we can keep pushing towards the top half of the table.’
