Atletico friendly: I’m not happy I was snubbed–Onuwa

MFM FC midfielder Chukwuka Onuwa believes his teammates; Austine Opara and Stanley Okorom will play a massive role for the Super Eagles B team against newly –crowned Europa League kings, Atletico Madrid FC of Spain in the inaugural GOtv MAX Cup billed for the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo next Tuesday.

In a chat with Sportinglife.ng, Onuwa who was left disappointed not to be called-up for the international friendly, said he will continue to work hard as he awaits his time in the national team.

“I’m not happy and I can’t deceive myself about that. This is because after my hard-work last season, I was not included for the CHAN team. Now we are playing against Atletico Madrid here in Nigeria, I am not given the opportunity to prove myself to the national team handlers.

“However, I will never allow that to weigh me down, I believe God has the final say. Everything has time and my time will come. All I need to do is to concentrate and keep working hard for my team and ensure that we finish in better position.

“I’m really happy seeing my captain Opara and Okorom in the team. They deserve the call-up because they have been consistent in the club. Opara is a fantastic defender, he reminds me of late Chineu Udoji. I believe if they are given the opportunity to play, they are going to deliver,” Onuwa told Sportinglife.ng.
