Başakşehir vs Mönchengladbach: Azubuike eyes first Europa League win

Nigeria’s U-23 Captain, Azubuike Okechukwu is keen for İstanbul Başakşehir to pick their first win in the Europa League when they face Bundesliga side, Borussia Mönchengladbach later this evening, SportingLife.ng can report.

The 22-year-old, who moved to Turkey on loan from Pyramid FC of Egypt, has been a constant feature in midfield for Başakşehir this season, having featured in all but one of their five league matches.

Başakşehir were hammered 4-0 by AS Roma in their Europa League opener but it was their second-half collapse that Azubuike has warned his teammates to avoid if they are to make progress in the competition.

“We lost concentration against Roma in our first game and must win the next match,” he told SportingLife.ng. “Playing the Europa League can be tough but we are hoping to make the best out of it and make our fans happy with good performances.”
