Barcelona prepare response as ‘Bartomeu must go’

Barcelona are reportedly preparing a response to the message from Lionel Messi, as President Josep Maria Bartomeu is asked to resign.

Associated Press says the Blaugrana have confirmed the letter from Messi, where he states his wish to terminate the contract at Camp Nou one year early.

He wants to trigger a clause in the agreement, but the club says it expired on June 10 and the request has been handed to the lawyers dealing with the contracts.

Reports in Spain claimed the Blaugrana are preparing an answer to the fax from La Pulce, delivered through the same journalist at RAC1 who confirmed the letter arrived.

The Presidential candidate of Barcelona, Victor Font, has asked for new elections to be called immediately if Bartomeu doesn’t resign from his position.

Font would be ready to present a motion of no confidence against the current President, in the eye of the storm caused by the captain, as Messi informed the Catalans he wants to leave the club in the upcoming transfer market.
