By renewing his contract, they could be able to change his salary and cut some costs and potentially earn by selling him on.
Roberto is currently the fourth captain at Barcelona, and there was a club that were willing to spend 60 million euros to sign him in 2020. Now, at 29, he still has a market, but Barcelona will need to tie him down beyond 2022 to benefit from it.
