Bordeaux vs Reims: Samuel Kalu to start

Bordeaux coach, Paulo Sousa has confirmed that Super Eagles’ star, Samuel Kalu is fit to return to action when his team welcome Reims to the Stade Matmut-Atlantique tonight and has strongly hinted that the winger stands a chance of making the starting line-up.

Sousa who revealed this in a press conference said Kalu has qualities that could always swing victory in the favour of his team.

The news from Sousa will come as a huge relief to Nigeria manager Gernot Rohr and Super Eagles fans as Kalu has been named in the country’s provisional roster for the Africa Cup of Nations squad despite concerns over his fitness.

”Yes, he (Kalu) can be that X Factor, that player who can bring us something. When I talk about power, fight, intention to score, he’s a player who will give us that,” Sousa told reporters.

”I hope that during the next season, there will be other players who can bring it on this moment of play. Samuel Kalu can start against Reims” he added

In the last four months, the former Gent star has logged only 216 minutes in the Ligue 1 due to a hamstring injury he had been dealing with.
