Botswana ref to handle Libya/Nigeria Afcon qualifier

Botswana referee Joshua Bondo will handle the return leg of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Mediterranean Knights of Libya and the Super Eagles of Nigeria which kicks off at 7pm at the Taïeb M’hiri Stadium in Sfax, Tunisia on Tuesday.

He was in charge when Nigeria hosted Zambia in the return leg of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on July 10 last year, which the Eagles won by a lone goal to seal our qualification.

Nigeria’s delegation led by the NFF first vice President Seyi Akinwunmi flew into Tunisia at 4pm aboard a Max aircraft from Uyo with the Lagos State FA Chairman charging the players to go all out for the three points.

“We have come here determined to pick the three points at stake and make the road much smoother for us towards Cameroon 2019. The players did a great job in Uyo on Saturday and all they need is step up a gear here and amass another three points.

“We have confidence in the players that we have here, as well as the technical crew, and we believe they will do the job.”

Nigeria lie second on the Group E table with six points, one less than leaders South Africa, ahead of Matchday 4 battles.
