Breaking: Relief for Tottenham as Son’s red card for Gomes injury nullified
Tottenham’s forward Son Heung-min’s red card against Everton has been overturned by an independent panel which met today in England.
Son was sent off for a horrific challenge against Andre Gomes by centre referee, Martin Atkinson owing to the severity of the injury.
Gomes suffered a fractured dislocation of the right ankle but has undergone surgery and faces close to a year on the sidelines.
It will be a welcome relief for Spurs who felt their player should not have been dismissed for the unfortunate incident.
