Brighton vs Villa (7:45pm) Balogun out

Super Eagles’ defender, Leon Balogun would not be available for tonight’s League Cup third round fixture between his club, Brighton & Hove Albion and Aston Villa at the the American Express Community Stadium.

The Premier League side revealed this via their official website about the 31-year-old whose only appearance for the club so far was against Bristol Rovers in the second round of the League Cup about 29 days ago.
No expected date of return was provided by the club for Balogun who got injured while on international duty with the Super Eagles in a friendly against Ukraine on September in Dnipro.
With just 18 days to the high-profile international friendly between Nigeria and Brazil in Singapore, the news that Balogun is yet to regain fitness will certainly worry manager Gernot Rohr and Super Eagles fans.
What this means is that the central defender is clearly fighting to be match fit and could doubtful for the friendly against the South American powerhouse.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is expected to announce a roster for the friendly against Brazil before the end of this month after Rohr confirmed that he has sent the list of the players he will use to prosecute the game to the federation.
