Calvin Bassey doubtful for Super Eagles clash with Ronaldo’s Portugal

Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey could miss the friendly clash with Cristiano Ronaldo’s led Portugal on Thursday.

Bassey was named in the 23-man squad for the game by coach Jose Peseiro, but he sustained an injury during an Eredivisie game on Saturday.

The 22 year-old was withdrawn at half time against FC Emmen following an apparent discomfort in his calf, and was replaced by Dailey Blind.

Ajax eventually settled for a share of the spoils with FC Emmem in a six-goal thriller, despite Alfred Schreuder’s side leading 3-1 before Bassey’s injury.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles head Coach Jose Peseiro will expect the arrival of players to the team’s camp as early as Sunday for the game in Lisbon.
