Chelsea set to recoup £67m from Jan sales to fund Rice move

Chelsea are set for a major fire sale as they seek to trim their squad and raise money to sign Declan Rice.

According to the Daily Express, the Blues are still very much interested in the West Ham United defensive midfielder.

The British source claims Chelsea will sell up to five first-teamers in the winter window and then bid for Rice.

West Ham want £80 million for Rice, and the Blues cannot spend that much without raising funds.

They will look to sell Antonio Rudiger, Emerson Palmieri, Danny Drinkwater, Olivier Giroud and permanently shift Tiemoue Bakayoko.

The latter is on loan at Napoli, who are happy to sign him permanently in January.

If these players were sold according to their value on Transfermarkt, the club would raise up to £67million.
