Club Deportivo’s prospect targets  Olympic Eagles

Lanky youngster Nurudeen Abiola Biliaminu has issued a ‘come-and-get-me’ mandate to Imama Amapakabo as the Olympic Eagles’ coach is pressed to make drastic changes of his squad ahead of the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

The national U-23 team had an abysmal performance at the WAFU Cup of Nations where they were beaten by hitherto less-fancied sides like Cape Verde and Togo. But the leggy Abiola, whose defensive quality has been well acknowledged at Real Sport de Parakou of Republic of Benin, is ready to help the Olympic Eagles go all the way in Egypt.

“I’m ready to do my best if I can be given a chance with the U-2 team,” stated the 20-year-old former AS Racine of Lagos defender. “It has always been my dream to play for my country and I’ll be happy if I can be given a chance to come and show what I can do.”

Abiola rise has been swift since he left Astound Freeman FC of Abeokuta in 2013 to AS Racine where he played for two seasons and helped the club gained promotion from the amateur league to the Nigeria Nationwide League.

He later moved to neighbouring Republic of Benin where he stars for AS Police of Cotonou before moving to Real Sport. His steady performance has not gone unnoticed and the six-footer is set to undergo trials with Chilean side, Club Deportivo Barneche.

“With all sense of responsibility, I think Abiola will be one of the real deals for Nigerian football very soon and it’s our hope that he would be given a chance in the U-23 national,” stated a  confidant of the lad.

“He will be going on trials soon with Club Deportivo. They have been monitoring him for some time now and that should give anyone an idea about his capability.”
