D/League: Amusan back to winning ways claims 100m Hurdles

 

World Record holder Tobi Amusan put aside the disappointment of Lausanne Diamond League and Ostrava Golden Spike respectively, to win the 100m hurdles at the Stockholm Diamond League on Sunday pushing aside contenders in style

On a rainy and wet track, World champion Tobi Amusan got her first Diamond League win of the season under wrap, reigning supreme in the women’s 100m Hurdles in Stockholm.

Amusan clocked an impressive 12.52s (0.9), dusting the rest of the field as Ireland’s Sarah Lavin raced to a Personal Best (PB) of 12.73s, and Poland’s Pia Skrzyszowska was third in 12.78s.

It is the Nigerian’s first win in three races, losing to Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn in Ostrava and their first Diamond League race this year in Lausanne.

The World Record (WR) clocked Season Best (SB) times of 12.47s in these cities, which excited Nigerian fans that she’s gradually working back to her best form and will be ready to defend her world title in Budapest.

Amusan will be gunning to build on this winning momentum in her next races, and with the Nigerian trials forthcoming, if she’ll be present, it will be a motivating venue to achieve this as she races with the home based athletes and in front of her home fans.
