Dawson returns to Tottenham after announcing retirement
Michael Dawson has returned to Tottenham as a club ambassador having announced his retirement after a 20-year playing career.
Dawson made 324 appearances for Spurs after joining them from Nottingham Forest in 2005 and hangs up his boots following a second spell with his boyhood club.
The 37-year-old, who won four England caps, joins Ledley King, Gary Mabbutt and Ossie Ardiles as club ambassadors and is set to make his first appearance at Sunday’s home friendly against Arsenal in the Mind Series.
A Spurs statement said: “[Daws] will fulfil a role that will see him support the work of the Club, its Foundation and charitable partners within the local community, have a regular presence across Club digital channels, add value to our commercial partnerships and engage with our fanbase both at home and abroad.”
Dawson, who also spent four seasons with Hull City, is set to continue as a pundit for Sky Sports, a role he assumed during his final season at Forest, when he did not feature.

Announcing his retirement, Dawson said: “Among the highs, of which there are just too many to mention, I’ve had the privilege of captaining Tottenham Hotspur, Nottingham Forest and Hull City, and absolutely loved my time at all three of those great clubs.
“Being given the honour of playing for England fulfilled a childhood dream and I was always immensely proud to represent my country.”
