Drinkwater touts Chilwell for Chelsea switch

Chelsea will force Aston Villa to pay all of Danny Drinkwater's wages in the event of a loan deal.

Danny Drinkwater has fanned the flames over Ben Chilwell’s potential move to Chelsea after posting a picture with the Leicester City left-back accompanied by the caption: “Summer scouting mission.”

City title-winner Drinkwater moved to Stamford Bridge for £35m in 2017 and it is a switch that Chilwell could make this summer, with Frank Lampard keen on the England international.

On Monday afternoon, Drinkwater, who has two years left on his Chelsea contract, ensured the transfer was the talk of the town once more after posting a picture on Instagram of himself with Chilwell from Mykonos.

The captain read: “Summer scouting mission! Great guy and some footballer too.”

Brendan Rodgers has been insistent that Chilwell is not for sale, and said last month: “He’s a Leicester City player. He’s not a player that we want to lose. So I’m quite relaxed on it.”
