‘Pompey approach City for Knight’

League One side Portsmouth have made an approach for Leicester City defender, Josh Knight, according to a report by Portsmouth News, but will need to fight off interest from Peterborough United for his services.

The 22-year-old centre-back came through the youth ranks at City and has spent time out on loan in the past couple of seasons.

He spent the second half of last term with Peterborough and returned to London Road for the 2019-20 campaign.

Knight made 26 appearances for Posh this season, scoring three goals, as Darren Ferguson’s men ended up just outside the League One play-off zone when proceedings were curtailed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

And they are keen to sign him again next term with both loan and permanent moves mooted having seen a January bid declined.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon is desperate for Leicester City target Odsonne Edouard to remain at Celtic Park despite this season despite summer interest from the Premier League.

The Foxes are reported to be planning a £40m swoop for the Frenchman as they look to land a full-time partner and future replacement for golden boot winner Jamie Vardy.

Edouard is set to receive plenty of interest in the coming months after his incredible goal return helped his side to yet another league title last term.

And this season, in their opening game of the campaign, he hit the ground running as he hit a hat-trick against Hamilton.

“We don’t want him to go anywhere,” Lennon said after Celtic’s Sunday win, hopeful that his 22-year-old will opt to stay north of the border.
