Super Eagles’ invitee, Adeleye Aniyikaye has indicated that he has employed the services of a personal trainer to ensure that he stays fit and ready for Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa and the Cranes of Uganda next month.
The Eagles will face South Africa on November 17 at the FNB Stadium, Johannesburg in a repeat of the AFCON qualifier played in Uyo in June, 2017 which Nigeria lost 2-0 while they will host Uganda three days later in Asaba in a friendly fixture.
Aniyikaye was also invited by Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr for the friendly tie with the Lone Star of Liberia and he featured in the second half of the game where he distinguished himself to be given another chance in the upcoming two games.
The defender opined that he wants to do his best to ensure that he is fit and be at par with the other players if not better by the time they all resume for the final build up to both matches next month.
The former FC IfeanyiUbah defender noted that he was surprised by the invitation extended to him judging by the inactivity of the league and his ex-club’s failure to advance to the crucial stages of the Aiteo Cup but hinted that staying fit and getting himself ready for the fixtures with South Africa and Uganda.
“I am happy to be given a chance by the Eagles technical crew again. I guessed it was my performance in the friendly match with Liberia that earned me this call-up and I am ready to make the most of it,” Aniyikaye told SportingLife.ng.
“I have a personal trainer that has been training me and I hope with him beside me I will keep fit and ready to storm the Eagles’ camp. I have been training and the confirmation that I have been invited will make me go extra mile to ensure that I am ready for the games.
“I took part in all the FC IfeanyiUbah matches in the Aiteo Cup and also played some league games too. I am no doubt in my mind that I will give a good account of myself in the Eagles camp.”
