Eagles’ must go for gold in 2022 AFCON in Cameroon – Onuachu
Super Eagles and Genk forward Paul Onuachu is upbeat Nigeria can win the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon in January.
The Super Eaglesโ place in the biennial tournament was confirmed on Saturday, shortly before they edged Benin Republic 1-0 at the Stade Charles De Gaulle in Port Novo.

Onuachu was the hero as he came off the bench to scored the winning goal in the 93rd minute against the Squirrels, but the goalless draw between Lesotho and Sierra Leone in the other Group L fixture in Maseru means the result against the Benin Republic is inconsequential.

Interestingly, the Gernot Rohrโs men finished third at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt, but the KRC Genk forward insists Nigeria can two-step further in Cameroon 2022.
โItโs a lot of confidence for a striker to score and Iโm very happy. We just have to go there (to the AFCON) and take the gold,โ he said in a video shared via Super Eagles social media handle after the game.
