Efe Ajagba named prospect of the year

Undefeated so far in the professional ring, Efe Ajagba has been named prospect of the year by  Premier Boxing Champions, a television boxing series based in the United States.
Ajagba, who has won eight out of nine fights via knockouts, was also recognized by Houston Boxing Awards as the biggest discovery of 2018.
The 24-year-old Ughelli-born heavyweight recorded five wins in 2018 with four of his fights ending via first-round knockouts.

The 6-foot-7 giant beat Antonio Johnson, Dell Long, Nick Jones and Santino Turnbow respectively.
His lone none-knockout victory was against Curtis Harper, who left the ring immediately after the opening bell rang for a first-round disqualification. This is regarded as the fastest victory in boxing history.
Ajagba represented Nigeria at the 2016 Rio Olympics where he lost to Ivan Dychko in the quarterfinals before relocating to Houston in 2017 to train under Ronnie Shields and managed by the famous Shelly Finkel, who has managed the likes of Mike Tyson, Manny Pacquiao, Evander Holyfield, Deontay Wilder and Wladimir Klitschko.
