El-Kanemi fail to retain Imama over Super Eagles job

El-Kanemi Technical Adviser, Imama Amapakabo has paid the price of keeping two jobs, following the club’s decision not to renew his contract ahead of the Nigeria Professional Football Season (NPFL).

The club decided not extend Amapakabo’s contract owing to the lack of the time he gives to the club due to his role as the Super Eagles assistant coach.

According to a statement from the club released on Tuesday, said the decision was taken in the best interest of the club and the state in general.

“The management of the club has resolved not to renew the contract of Amapakabo as a result of his national engagement with the Super Eagles.

“There is also the public outcry that the coach hardly stays in Maiduguri. No doubt, coach Imama is one of the best coaches in Nigeria, but then the management had to take this decision in the interest of the team and the state at large.” Alhaji Tahiru Bala, the club’s secretary stated.
