Empoli boss Andreazzoli protests Ebuehi’s disallowed goal

Empoli boss Aurelio Andreazzoli insists Tyronne Ebuehi’s disallowed goal against Torino should have been allowed.

Ebuehi believed he had secured the equalizer, tapping in a knockdown from Sebastiano Luperto, only for the tightest offside call in football history to spoil the moment.

Despite a lengthy VAR review, the Lega Serie A’s Semi-Automatic Offside technology revealed a matter of millimeters, with a part of Ebuehi’s boot extending beyond the line.

Andreazzoli, shown the decisive image, remains unconvinced by the call.

“Ebuehi has wide feet…” the coach told Sky Sport Italia with a smile and a shrug.

“I was more concerned talking to the referee about whether the rule still exists where the goalkeeper cannot hold the ball for over six seconds. Because rules are rules, otherwise we are just taking people for a ride,” he said after the game.
