Out of Vidi Clash

Moses

Victor Moses will not be in action in tonight’s Europa League clash against Vidi.

The Chelsea player and Nigerian international may not only have lost is regular shirt in the blues but he has already been tagged along two other teammates as outcast.

Reports from the club say that Moses, Gary Cahill and Danny Drinkwater can all leave in January having been frozen out under new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri, .

Sarri has been a managerial grim reaper, quickly exiling the three big names who won’t even appear in Thursday night’s dead rubber against Vidi.

How did Victor Moses fare under Antonio Conte?

Prior to Conte’s arrival Moses had been completely frozen out by Chelsea, sent out into the wilderness of the club’s loan army where uninspiring stints at Liverpool, Stoke, and West Ham followed.

There was considerable skepticism when Conte chose to bring back the Nigerian and make him an essential piece of the 3-4-3 formation as the right-wing-back but a fairy-tale season in which Moses appeared 40 times in all competitions followed.

He even score a crucial winner against Tottenham as Chelsea were crowned champions. During last season’s trouble-stricken campaign Moses was still a regular name on the team sheet.

So, why doesn’t he fit in?

Whereas the change of formation under Conte to a 3-4-3 breathed new life into the Nigerian’s Chelsea career, Sarri’s 4-3-3 has equally proven to be the kiss of death. Capable as a right-wing-back, Moses has been deemed not good enough as a winger, nor defensively savvy enough as a right-back by Sarri.

‘Moses is more suitable to play like a wing-back, rather than like a winger or a full-back,’ Sarri said.

‘They (Moses and Drinkwater) have to improve – but their characteristics are a little bit different.’ A regular in the last two seasons Moses has seen only 165 minutes of action under Sarri.

What next for Moses?

Moses in on his way out of Chelsea, but there will be no shortage of Premier League clubs lining up to give him another opportunity. Crystal Palace have been strongly linked with a return for their academy product as they look to add a spark to their plummeting season, while Wolves and Fulham have also been attracted to the £12m valuation placed on the winger.
