Boxing: Four world title fights to hold in Lagos

A major milestone has been recorded in professional boxing in Nigeria following the disclosure that four world title fights will hold in Lagos this month.
SportingLife.ng gathered that Monarch Promotions has perfected plans to fly in no fewer than 18 professional boxers from within and outside the country to participate at the event tagged ‘King of the Ring’

All the fights sanctioned by the World Boxing Union (WBU) will take place on December 22 this year at the Landmark Events Center, Victoria Island, Lagos.
In some of the fights slated for the day, WBF Africa Cruiserweight champion, King Davidson who is based in Australia will slug it with a yet to named opponent.
In other bouts, Tasif Khan of the United Kingdom will battle Mexico’s Sammy Reyes in a WBU Super Flyweight title fight.
Policeman, Suleiman Olagbade fights with Gyorgy Mizsei Jnr of Hungary in a 12 round WBO Africa Light Middleweight title clash while Tony Salam is expected to trade punches with Kwesi Tutu.
Meanwhile, the president of the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control (NBB of C) Dr Rauf Ladipo has revealed that the body will soon acquire a world class 24 feet boxing ring to help professional boxers in the country fight with the latest facilities in the sport.
Ladipo who said part payment for the equipment has been made by the NBB of C hinted that the ring will arrive in the country February 2019.
“We want our professional boxers to train and fight with the latest facilities in the world and the 24 feet boxing ring is the best in the world” Ladipo added.
