The match already termed ‘clash of the Eagles’ is expected to attract Nigerian players like Alex Iwobi of the Everton and the duo od Wifred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho of the Leicester City.

Caretaker manager Ferguson oversaw his injury-hit side’s 1-1 Premier League draw at Manchester United on Sunday – eight days after inspiring Everton’s 3-1 victory over Chelsea.

Ferguson’s first game at the helm was contested to the backdrop of a fervent Goodison and the Scot is anticipating a similar wave of home support against Leicester.

Equally, he is optimistic the bounce generated from Everton’s past two matches will feed into another energetic performance as the Blues target only a third League Cup semi-final in 32 years.

“It is a quick turnover but when you get a few results, everybody is happy and looking forward to the next match and that’s what the players are prepared for – to go again on Wednesday,” Ferguson told evertontv.

“For the supporters to turn up again, it was never in doubt to be honest with you.
