Cesc Fabregas has become part-owner of Serie B club Como after signing a two-year playing deal, the club’s chief executive Dennis Wise has confirmed.
The former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder was unveiled in north Italy this afternoon amid much excitement for the upwardly mobile second-tier side.
And while much of the focus is on how the 34-year-old World Cup winner’s playing experience can help the squad achieve its ambition of reaching the top tier, speaking to Mirror Football Wise said that the agreement will see Fabregas have an ownership stake.
“He owns part of the club, he’s a shareholder,” Wise confirmed. “That’s what Cesc wants to get involved in. He’ll be here a lot longer than expected really. It was important, he felt that way, to be part of it going forward long-term. He could see what we’re trying to achieve at this football club.
“There’s a lot more to be done at the football club regarding where we want to end up, in Serie A. He sees it as a good opportunity and I’m pleased he’s on board.”

In 2017 a bankrupt Como were taken over by British-based company SENT Entertainment, who are financially supported by Indonesia tobacco industry giant Djarum, following an auction. They were in Serie D at the time and ex-Chelsea midfielder Wise was brought in as chief executive two years later.
