Falcons coach targets Olympic gold, writes off Cote D’Ivoire
Super Falcons head coach Thomas Dennerby has revealed that his target at next year’s Olympic Games is to be at the podium for the gold medal award in Tokyo, Japan when the games gets under way.
Dennerby who spoke to Sportinglife.ng at the NFF Secretariat, said he wants to be the first Africa female football coach to beon the podium.
The Falcons tactician also stated that winning Cote d’Ivoire in the next round of the Olympics qualifier both home and away would not be a problem having played them severally in the past.
” I know the Ivoiren ladies are good but not a threat to the Super Falcons in our quest to qualify for 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Though against Algeria I was not particularly happy with the standard of play partIcularly at home but I blame it on the attitude of the players having won 2 -0 away took the return leg for granted, “said Dennerby
He also revealed that winning a medal at the Olympics especially gold will be a compensation for the unimpressive world cup outing which the Falcons managed as one of the best losers to advance from the group stage.
