Fiorentina near agreement with Kayode amid Arsenal link – report

Fiorentina are closing in on a final agreement with highly-rated Nigerian-born teenage full-back Michael Kayode over a new contract after an impressive series of performances in the early stages of the 2023-24 season.

The 19-year-old, who has had to step up following the season-ending injury to regular first-teamer Dodo, and coach Vincenzo Italiano is showing more and more trust in the youngster with each passing game.

So far this campaign, Kayode has made five appearances in Serie A, as well as another two in the Conference League, providing one assist across both competitions.

As a result of his promising performances, Premier League Arsenal as well as a handful of clubs in the Bundesliga had already started to circle over Florence in an attempt to lure Kayode away.

However, according to Gianluca Di Marzio, Fiorentina director Daniele Prade and CEO Joe Barone have been hard at work in Milan on Monday afternoon trying to reach an agreement over a new deal.

Kayode currently earns an estimated €30,000 per season, which, according to recent reports from Corriere Fiorentino, is set to be increased significantly to a figure closer to €1m per year.

It is believed that La Viola are prepared to hand Kayode a five-year deal.
