Fitness issue knocks Nathan Ferguson out of proposed move to Crystal Palace

Nathan Ferguson’s move from West Brom to Crystal Palace is on a knife-edge.

Reports claim a fitness issue picked up in the 19-year-old’s medical is holding up the £10million deal.
The existing fitness issue has now led the clubs to reignite talks despite having agreed the fee earlier this week, according to the Mail.

And SunSport understands Ferguson himself is having second thoughts as well.

The Baggies’ board are keen to cash in on their homegrown youngster despite him emerging as an important part of Slaven Bilic’s promotion-chasing side.

The player has rejected the package West Brom have offered him to sign a new contract.

But although Ferguson stands to earn about £18,000-a-week at Palace – several times his current wage – he is not particularly keen on leaving the Hawthorns for South London.
The Premier League club turned to West Brom’s highly-rated teenager after missing out to Southampton in the race to capture Kyle Walker-Peters from Tottenham.

Roy Hodgson thought he had got a deal done to bring Walker-Peters to Selhurst Park at the start of the month only for Spurs to pull back at the last minute.

Now Saints have swooped in to snatch the right-back on loan until the end of the season with the option of a permanent £12million transfer in the summer.

Ferguson is out of contract at The Hawthorns this summer and the Eagles had persuaded Bilic to allow him to leave this month but this latest blip could see the deal fall through.

This latest development could affect the Midlands side’s ability to sign Grady Diangana permanently from West Ham.

The 21-year-old winger is on loan from the East Londoners and has been in dazzling form this season which is why Bilic wants to tie him down in a £10m deal.

While the Hammers are willing to sell their prospect at the right price, if the Ferguson deal falls through the necessary cash may no longer be available.
