The race is indeed getting interesting with five matches left to end the 2018/19 Premier League season.

Here, Sportinglife.ng takes a look at the some of the talking points ahead of this weekend’s matches

Who wins the Etihad clash?

Today’s luchtime kick off against Tottenham Hotspur may decide Manchester City’s title ambitions. Are we expecting another classic match as a follow-up to last Wednesday’s Champions league spectacle from both sides? Are the two teams also mentally and physically ready for today’s showdown? it’s a match to be watched!

Can Liverpool remain focused?

Can league leaders, Liverpool extend their lead on the standings when they face Cardiff City away on Sunday? On paper, it is an easy one for the Reds but manager, Jurgen Klopp will certainly remind his players to be on their guard ahead of their trip to south Wales. “These are all massive games. None of them are won before we start.” he told reporters.

Are United running out of steam?

Things are really not looking too good for Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer since he was confirmed as the boss. “Look at where we were when we came in on 19 December and where we’re at now,” said ahead of this Sunday’s trip to Everton. The answer is the same: sixth. That means United need to recover and quickly.

How bright are Brighton’s chances?

Today’s match against Wolves is Brighton’s chance to take their destiny into their own hands. This has become more worrisome for the Seagulls who lost their midweek clash to Cardiff. Furthermore four of their remaining five matches are against sides in the top half of the table, not a desirable run for a side that have lost five consecutive matches in all competitions for the first time in 12 years.

Can Leicester finish seventh?

Leicester currently occupy seventh place but manager Brendan Rodgers appeared to be ambivalent about the possibility of finishing there as he said: “There’s an argument for and against it. It could come too early for us, especially when we’re trying to create something.”
Seventh spot will be enough to guarantee European football next season if Manchester City overcome Watford in the FA Cup final.
