Gerd Muller record: Here’s Lewandowski’s pre-arranged celebration

With his goal against Freiburg, Robert Lewandowski managed to equal the record held by Gerd ‘Torpedo’ Muller, and his celebration matched the grand occasion.

Players held a guard of honour in the middle of the park before the Pole revealed a t-shirt paying homage to the Bayern legend.

It was a matter of time before Robert Lewandowski levelled the record held by Gerd Muller, and it was in Saturday’s match against Freiburg where the Pole finally achieved this impressive feat – 40 league goals in a single Bundesliga season.

Lewandowski could even overtake the ex-player, but at the moment he was happy to equal his record and celebrate in style. The striker opened the scoring from the spot after just 26 minutes.
