Ghanaian boxer in trouble, after pummeling a football fan

Ghanaian boxer, Patrick Allotey, is in big trouble after being caught mercilessly beating a football fan during the super clash between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko on Sunday.

The disgraceful and shameful conduct has sparked outrage on social media after the WBO Africa Super welterweight champion was captured pummeling the powerless supporter at the Accra sports stadium.

The fan, who was clouded in Kotoko jersey suffered a technical blowout after being handed hefty punches by the boxer.

It’s unclear what sparked the confusion, but the boxer is now facing sanctions from the Ghana Boxing Authority and other global organisations.

Allotey could lose his licence if he is found guilty of misconduct as his action has crowded the epic thriller in the Ghanaian capital.

The lack of discipline and self-restraint has put the boxer in an embarrassing corner as he appears to have lost the backing of many people on social media.

Boxers are barred from throwing punches outside the ring and could put him a tight corner with authorities.

Allotey lost his last fight yo Mexican Jaime Munguia and appears to have used the helpless fan as a dress rehearsal for a potential return to the ring.

The football fan who was beaten up by WBO Africa Super welterweight champion, Patrick Allotey says he did nothing provocative.

The incident happened during Sunday’s super clash between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium.

In the video circulating on social media, the boxer is seen delivering three quick stiff jabs to the face of the fan, whose name has been given as Michael Siaw by Ghanasoccernet.com.

According to him, he was just celebrating when his team, Kotoko scored contrary to local reports that he provoked the boxer.

“I didn’t even know he was a boxer, it was after the video went viral that I got to know,” the football fan said.

“Sincerely I did nothing to merit such an assault from him. I was only jubilating when Kotoko scored. He approached me to leave his presence and before I realized, he had me.”

He also revealed that he has reported the matter to the police but the boxer and his representatives have been begging for an amicable settlement.

“His manager and family members have been asking that I withdraw the case so we settle it amicably but I’m yet to meet my dad so we decide.”

The fan sustained a gash under his left eye and had to be stitched.

Allotey could lose his boxing license as part of sanctions from Ghana Boxing Authority and other global boxing organisations.

Allotey says he regretted his actions after he was captured in a viral video assaulting a fan on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Allotey in a statement copied Online accepted responsibility for his actions and also apologised to the victim of the assault, Michael Siaw Agyemang.

“Much as I can confirm that I am the one in the video, I wish to state that I am very ashamed of my actions as a professional boxer and truly regret my actions,” the statement said.

“I, therefore, take this opportunity to render an unqualified apology to Michael Siaw. I am mostly the reserved type who will hardly talk in public but this time around I don’t know what emotions came upon me. I am truly sorry”.

Allotey also confirmed that his team has reached out to Siaw on how to remedy the situation.

The boxer’s camp visited the victim after the incident and have him some funds towards the treatment of the injuries he sustained after the assault.

“Myself, my team and some family members have further taken steps to reach out to ‘my brother’ Michael Siaw and his family and are deliberating on how to remedy the situation. It is rather unfortunate that a simple game of football can ignite such a passion in me to do what I did, but that is to say I am human and I admit so without feeling right about what I did. I wish to plead for everyone’s forgiveness and to reach out to my fans to join me in apologizing to all Ghanaians the rest of the world.

He also appealed to his management at Cabic Promotions & Management to forgive him for the altercation.
