Iheanacho’s goal not enough as Trezeguet sends Villa into EFL Cup final
An injury-time winner from Egyptian winger Trezeguet sent Villa Park into raptures and broke Leicester City hearts after Villa secured a 2-1 win and 3-2 aggregate victory in the EFL Cup semi-final.
Both sides came out of the traps firing with each goalkeeper forced into action on multiple occasions in a pulsating first ten minutes.
Targett opened the scoring on the night in the 12th minute. Jack Grealish found space in the Leicester area and delicately flicked on to find the overlapping full-back who lashed his shot through the disappointed Kasper Schmeichel.

The Foxes regained parity in the 72nd minute after Iheanacho continued his remarkable form in the domestic cups.
Harvey Barnes received the ball and stormed into the Villa penalty area with his pinpoint low driven cross picking out the unmarked Nigerian at the far post to slot home.
The match appeared destined to be heading to the dreaded penalty shoot-out until Trezeguet snatched a last-gasp winner in the 93rd minute.

The Egyptian ghosted in at the far post to tuck home Ahmed Elmohamady’s cross to send Villa to Wembley and the fans into rapture.
