Hugo Broos confirms November camp for Bafana Bafana

 

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has confirmed that the national team will hold a camp in November.

The Belgian-born mentor desperately wanted another camp before the 2022 FIFA World Cup as he continues to prepare his team for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Liberia in March.

Broos was unsure whether FIFA would allow the camp to happen, especially with Bafana not  participating at the World Cup in Qatar.

The camp will be held just before the World Cup, which kicks off on Sunday, 20 November.

“There will be a camp as we have confirmation from FIFA that between the 14th and 20th of November is a FIFA period so clubs have to release their players,” Broos said.

“From next week, we can start organising the camp and look for two new opponents to play”.

Broos highlighted the importance of the camp, as he feels it will help them prepare for the Afcon qualifiers which takes place in March 2023.

“I can say that the preparations we need to have for those two important games (in March) will be very good.

“Let’s hope we can start as soon as possible and that the organisation will be done as soon as possible for November,” said Broos.

Bafana beat Sierra Leone 4-0 at FNB Stadium on Saturday, and they will face Botswana at the same venue on Tuesday.

Broos is hopeful that his side can keep the momentum and take it into the next game.

“I believe in them, in their qualities, it’s just up to them to show it,” concluded Broos.

Bafana Bafana are one of the African heavy weight teams that will miss the world cup in Qatar. Others that will be watching the Mundial from afar contrary to initial permutations by some analysts include Super Eagles of Nigeria, Pharaohs of Egypt, Desert Foxes of Algeria and Elephants of Cote d Ivoire.
