IAAF Diamond League: Okagbare runs 11.32 secs to finish last

Nigeria sprinter Blessing Okagbare finished eighth in the women’s 100m at the IAAF Diamond League in Monaco on Friday.

Nigeria sprinter Blessing Okagbare  finished eighth in the women’s 100m at the IAAF Diamond League in Monaco on Friday.

Okagbare clocked 11.32secs behind the Ivorian duo of Marie-Jose Ta Lou (10.89 seconds) and Muriel Ahoure (11.01 seconds) who came first and second respectively.

Only last month Okagbare finished fifth in the women’s 100m at the IAAF Diamond League in Stockholm, Sweden.

She had come second in a time of 10.90 secs in the opening leg of the Diamond league.

She is one of the Nigeria atheletes that the country is banking on for results at the Asaba 2018 Africa Athletics

Championship in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay.

In Asaba Okagbare will be contending with South Africa’s Carina Horn who ran 11.21 seconds to finish seventh at the meeting

Also, at the IAAF World Challenge in Hengelo, Holland, the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games double sprints gold medallist ran 23.03secs in the 200m to place fifth — she had earlier ran 22.04secs to break the African record in the event earlier in the season.
