Ideye set to undergo medicals at Turkish Super Lig side

Super Eagles forward Brown Ideye is set for medical at Turkish Super Lig side, Göztepe, with a view of signing the dotted lines barring late hitches.

Reports in the Turkish media reported on Friday that talks between Göztepe and Ideye’s camp have reached an advance stage as club chiefs are eager to boost the squad with an top striker that can change the club’s fortune next campaign.

The 32-year-old Ideye is reportedly flying to Turkey on Friday, August 21, and is expected to seal the deal after undergoing a successful medical.

Göztepe have been trying to reinforce its squad, which was weakened by the departures of key players and Ideye has been identified as an ideal replacement as the club attempt to punch above its weight next season and compete for honours in the Super League, which kicks off on September 11

Ideye kick started his European career at Swiss side, Neuchatel Xamax. The former Ocean Boys ace also plied his trade with Sochaux, Dynamo Kyiv, West Bromwich Albion, and Olympiacos.

Ideye, who claimed the 2013 AFCON with the Super Eagles also had a taste of Chinese football at Tianjin Teda as well as a loan deal at Malaga in Spanish La Liga.

At the last count, the Edo state-born striker has featured in UEFA Champions League and the Europa League games.
Ideye netted eight times in the Greek topflight last season and was earlier linked with a switch to Galatasaray before Gotzepe moved in for the forward.
