Ighalo grabs goal number 10 but fails to rescue Shanghai Shenhua

Former Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo was on the losing side with Shanghai Shenhua despite getting on the score sheet against Jiangsu Suning in a Chinese Super League clash which ended 3-1 at the Hongkou Football Stadium on Wednesday.

Ighalo scored from the penalty spot which was his 10th goal of the season after Ivan Santini had given Jiangsu Suning the lead in the 24th minute.

Shenhua’s woes were further compounded following an own goal from Zhu Chenjie five minutes after the break while Santini added the second in the 68th minute.

The Nigerian who has now scored 46 goals in 72 matches for the Chinese was featuring in his 16th league match of the season.

Shanghai Shenhua will travel to Guangzhou Evergrande for their next league game on Sunday.
