Super Eagles forward Odion Jude Ighalo is expected to arrive China this week to commence training with Changchun Yatai after a hectic campaign with Nigeria at the FIFA World Cup.
The player who featured in all of Nigeria’s matches at the World cup has been on holidays with his family following the country’s exit on June 26 to Argentina in the group stage.
It would be recalled that as Nigeria made its way out of Russia, Ighalo came under fire from fans for his failure to convert two scoring chances against Argentina which would have sent the Eagles to the round of 16.
The 29-year-old who was in good form for his club before the World Cup apologised and even went as far as accepting responsibility for the team’s elimination.
But despite the apology, Ighalo in a Twitter post alleged that his life was in danger. Before the Chinese league went on break, Ighalo had scored 7 goals in 11 matches, including four in one game against Guizhou Zhicheng.
Changchun Yatai are up against Chongqing Dangdai Lifan on July 17.
