Few months after her death, Kelechi rose to stardom and became the youngest football prodigy in the world as he led Nigeria to the FIFA U17 World Cup in UAE.

His exploit at the tournament earned him a career-changing move to Manchester City, before joining Leicester City, where he’s now breaking records after records.

While speaking to New Flame in an exclusive interview, Kelechi Iheanacho said his biggest personal regret is not having his mother around to enjoy her labor.

“I’m getting emotional now because… I wish I had my mom here to celebrate with me because she’s one person in my life that, she always stood by me. It breaks my heart when I remember she is no more and she’s not even enjoying all this.

“Death is unfair. Imagine having the chance to buy her whatever she’d like to have now, take her wherever she’d love to go, yet death took her away,” the player was quoted by Brila.net.

The former Manchester City star stressed further she’s the reason he always looks up to the sky whenever he scores a goal.
