Super Falcons’ striker Chinwendu Ihezuo is confident her transfer from BIIK Kazygurt in the Kazakhstani Championship to Henan Huishang in the Chinese Women’s Super league will bode well for her fledging career.

The 21-year-old, who joined Kazygurt in 2016, had an impressive stint with the Kazakhstani champions and reportedly scored 16 goals in 20 appearances including in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

“I think there is time for everything in life and I really enjoyed my time at Kazygurt, “explained Ihezuo who opened her Chinese account with a goal in the Chinese Women’s FA Cup. “But I love the new challenge here in China and I have signed a two-year contract with Henan Huishang.

“It is a new challenge for me and I’m ready to work hard in order to help my international career with the Super Falcons.”

Already, an African Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) winner following Super Falcons’ record ninth title won in Accra last December, Ihezuo is an achiever as far as the women’s game is concerned.

The former Delta Queens F.C. actually made her international debut for the Nigeria at the 2012 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Azerbaijan where she scooped the silver boot at the tournament after netting six goals including a record-setting five goals in single match in the 11-0 defeat of the hosts Azerbaijan.

She was top scorer for the national Under-20 in the qualifying tournament en route to Papua New Guinea in 2016 and was one of the stars in 2014 when Nigeria lost to Germany at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Canada where she scored three goals.

“Coming to China is a boost to my career,” maintained Ihezuo who will be 22 on 30th April. “I like my new club and they have been so nice to me since I joined them; I’m praying for the best here.

“My target is to be at the top of my game and be in good form for booth my club and national team,” she added.
