Inter Milan make move for Man United defender

Inter Milan have reportedly enquired about signing Manchester United captain Ashley Young.

The 34-year-old was left out of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad for Tuesday’s 3-1 League Cup semi-final first leg defeat to Man City.

Ashley Young has emerged as a shock target for Inter Milan

That is despite the veteran full-back being match fit and ready for action.

Now MEN claim that his absence could be due to the fact he may be on his way to completing a surprise switch to the Serie A giants.

Inter boss Antonio Conte had previously tried to sign the ex-England international for Chelsea back in 2017 but failed to get a deal over the line.

Young, who joined United from Aston Villa in 2011, is out of contract at Old Trafford in June.

And that means he is now able to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with an overseas club.

But it is understood that Italian top-flight leaders Inter are interested in a transfer this month.

That could tempt United to allow the former Watford man to depart now for a small fee rather than lose him for nothing in the summer.

Brandon Williams, 19, played left-back for the Red Devils against City.

That was his tenth career start, and despite the latest result, he has impressed Solskjaer and supporters with his displays.
