Its Salah versus Salah as waxed Mo replica is unveiled

Madame Tussauds have unveiled a waxwork figure of Liverpool star Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian has been vital to Liverpool’s success over the past couple of seasons, and Reds icon Ian Rush believes ‘without a doubt’ Salah is currently the best in the world.

Salah will join other athletes such as Anthony Joshua, Usain Bolt, and Mo Farah to have a waxwork figure on display at the famous London attraction.

The 29-year-old had come face to face with the figure at a private viewing over the weekend.

And after photo’s emerged of the Egyptian and his newly found doppelgänger emerged online, fans were quick to weigh in with their opinions.

“Did it melt and fall to the floor?” one fan joked after seeing the waxwork.

Waxed Salah in full

“Surely that’s weird as hell, seeing ya own self in detail as a lifeless figure,” another added.

A fourth tweeted: “I’m finding it hard to recognise wax Salah and the real Salah.”

However, others questioned why the figure was not in a football kit: “Funny that his wax statue is seen not wearing a football jersey.”

“It’s been an amazing experience working with the artists at Madame Tussauds London to create my first ever wax figure,” Salah said after seeing the figure.

“It’s a blessing to be recognised and immortalised in this way.

“I couldn’t believe it when I stood alongside ‘me’, it’s like looking at my own reflection in a mirror! I can’t wait to see what the fans think.”

While Tim Waters, Madame Tussauds’ General Manager, said: “Mo Salah is one of the game’s greats, arguably the best in the world right now, and incredibly deserving of a Madame Tussauds London figure.

“Having Mo so involved in the creation of his figure has been a real pleasure for the whole Madame Tussauds London team.

“We’re sure a lot of people would have expected to see Mo’s figure styled in his Liverpool kit, but we really wanted to mark his international superstar status and he feels right at home in our Awards Party zone.
