Be ready for ‘war’ Black Queens head coach tells Falcons

 

After losing by two goals to the Super Falcons in their AWCON 2022 qualifiers Wednesday in Lagos, Black Queens head coach Mercy Tagoe says it is not yet uhuru for Falcons.

The return leg on Sunday in Ghana according to her will not be a tea  party for the Randy Waldrum tutored Falcons.

Speaking shortly after the game in Lagos the former Black Queens defender opined that playing away match is not easy adding that the team will go home and prepare for a better show.

Two goals from Uchenna Kanu was enough to hand Waldrum and the girls three points going into Sunday’s return leg.

while the Falcons settled for a respectable scoreline over rivals Ghana, same cannot be said of the Algerian counterparts who sent debutant Sudan to the cleaners. The Fennecs went on a harvest of goal ending the encounterr with a 14-0 demolition.

Radia Fertoul’s side were 9-0 up in the opening 45 minutes, first through Oum Srir’s own goal before Naima Bouhenni-Benziane netted the second in the sixth minute at the Omar Hamadi Stadium in Algiers.

Koi Celia’s 11th-minute strike was followed by Bouhenni-Benziane and Bouzid Wissam’s brace before Abraham Amira’s double and Bouhenni-Benziane scored her second eight minutes from half time.

The Fennecs were back to finish the business in the second half with Bohni Naima and Belkasmi Lydia netting the 10th and 11th goal of the encounter.

Coy Celia fired in South Africa’s 12th goal in the 67th minute before Bara Fatima notched the 13th four minutes later and Maroush Eman’s strike completed the rout with eight minutes to go.

The heavy win thrust Algeria in an advantageous position ahead of visiting Sudan for this round’s second leg at Al-Hilal Stadium in Omdurman next Tuesday.
